And Again He Began to Teach by the Sea and a Great Multitude Was Gathered to Him
4And he began again to teach by the body of water side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a send, and sat in the body of water; and the whole multitude was past the sea on the state.
2And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
3Hearken; Behold, at that place went out a sower to sow:
4And information technology came to pass, as he sowed, some vicious by the manner side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
vAnd some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang upwards, because information technology had no depth of world:
half-dozenMerely when the sun was upward, it was scorched; and considering it had no root, information technology withered away.
7And some roughshod among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and high-strung it, and it yielded no fruit.
8And other roughshod on good basis, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
9And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
tenAnd when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
11And he said unto them, Unto you lot information technology is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
13And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
fourteenThe sower soweth the word.
15And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
xviAnd these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17And accept no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterwards, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the discussion's sake, immediately they are offended.
xviiiAnd these are they which are sown amongst thorns; such every bit hear the discussion,
nineteenAnd the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, asphyxiate the give-and-take, and information technology becometh unfruitful.
20And these are they which are sown on adept ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some 60, and some an hundred.
21And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to exist put under a bushel, or under a bed? and non to be gear up on a candlestick?
22For there is naught hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was whatsoever matter kept undercover, simply that it should come away.
23If any human have ears to hear, let him hear.
24And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what mensurate ye mete, it shall exist measured to yous: and unto you that hear shall more exist given.
25For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath non, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
26And he said, So is the kingdom of God, equally if a homo should cast seed into the ground;
27And should sleep, and ascent night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28For the earth bringeth along fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29Only when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
xxxAnd he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparing shall nosotros compare it?
31It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the world, is less than all the seeds that exist in the world:
32But when it is sown, information technology groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out bang-up branches; so that the fowls of the air may society under the shadow of it.
33And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, every bit they were able to hear information technology.
34But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
35And the aforementioned day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Allow usa pass over unto the other side.
36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even equally he was in the transport. And there were besides with him other little ships.
37And there arose a dandy tempest of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, and then that information technology was now total.
38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, comatose on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest chiliad not that we perish?
39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the ocean, Peace, be however. And the air current ceased, and there was a great calm.
xlAnd he said unto them, Why are ye and so fearful? how is it that ye accept no religion?
41And they feared exceedingly, and said i to another, What way of man is this, that fifty-fifty the wind and the sea obey him?
The Parable of the Sower(A)
4And (B)again He began to teach by the bounding main. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in information technology on the ocean; and the whole multitude was on the country facing the sea. 2Then He taught them many things by parables, (C)and said to them in His instruction:
3 "Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And information technology happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds [a] of the air came and devoured it. five Some barbarous on stony ground, where information technology did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang upwards because information technology had no depth of earth. half-dozen Merely when the sunday was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed roughshod amidst thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked information technology, and it yielded no [b] ingather. 8 But other seed savage on good footing and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some 60, and some a hundred."
9And He said [c]to them, "He who has ears to hear, allow him hear!"
The Purpose of Parables(D)
10 (Eastward)But when He was lonely, those effectually Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. 11And He said to them, "To you lot it has been given to (F) know the [d] mystery of the kingdom of God; merely to (G) those who are outside, all things come in parables, 12 then that
(H) 'Seeing they may meet and not perceive,
And hearing they may hear and not understand;
Lest they should plough,
And their sins exist forgiven them.' "
The Parable of the Sower Explained(I)
thirteenAnd He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? 14 (J) The sower sows the word. fifteen And these are the ones past the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes abroad the word that was sown in their hearts. sixteen These too are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 and they accept no root in themselves, and so endure only for a fourth dimension. Later, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they stumble. 18 At present these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the discussion, 19 and the (K) cares of this world, (L) the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the discussion, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 Only these are the ones sown on skillful footing, those who hear the word, [east] accept information technology, and acquit (M) fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred."
Light Under a Handbasket(Due north)
21 (O)Too He said to them, "Is a lamp brought to exist put under a handbasket or nether a bed? Is information technology not to be assail a lampstand? 22 (P) For there is nix hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come up to low-cal. 23 (Q) If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."
24So He said to them, "Take heed what you hear. (R) With the same mensurate y'all use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 (Due south) For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not take, even what he has will be taken abroad from him."
The Parable of the Growing Seed
26And He said, (T) "The kingdom of God is equally if a man should [f] besprinkle seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep past night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and (U) grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth (V) yields crops past itself: first the blade, so the head, afterward that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately (Westward) he puts in the sickle, considering the harvest has come."
The Parable of the Mustard Seed(X)
xxxSo He said, (Y) "To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we flick it? 31 Information technology is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the basis, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows upward and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, then that the birds of the air may nest under its shade."
Jesus' Employ of Parables
33 (Z)And with many such parables He spoke the word to them equally they were able to hear it. 34But without a parable He did non speak to them. And when they were lone, (AA)He explained all things to His disciples.
Wind and Wave Obey Jesus(AB)
35 (AC)On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Allow us cross over to the other side." 36Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37And a great windstorm arose, and the waves trounce into the gunkhole, so that it was already filling. 38But He was in the stern, comatose on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, (AD)"Instructor, (AE)do You not care that we are perishing?"
39Then He arose and (AF)rebuked the current of air, and said to the sea, (AG) "Peace, [g] be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a smashing at-home. 40Just He said to them, "Why are you lot so fearful? (AH) How [h] is it that yous have no faith?" 41And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this exist, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!"
